In case you were wondering, the 2016 CFDA Fashion Awards are tonight! (See Gigi Hadid and Bella Hadid? That's how excited you should be.)

And in case you're unfamiliar with the event, celebrity stylist Sophie Lopez broke down what it is, who it honors, why she's so excited for them and lists her top three favorite designers of the moment (as well as her favorite looks) below.

So, what are the CFDA Fashion Awards anyways?
"It's an event hosted annually that celebrates extraordinary American fashion designers in womenswear, menswear and accessories. It also recognizes contributions made in the arts related to the fashion industry. The award recipients are chosen by the CFDA Guild, which consists of an invitation-only network of fashion designers, stylists and other accomplished influencers in the industry."

Translation: "It's an amazing organization because it supports and promotes U.S.-based fashion designers." (Hi, Diane von Furstenberg and Betsey Johnson!)

Why are the CFDAs exciting to you?
"It's so exciting when a designer, who I'm friends with and work with closely, is recognized and wins an award. It's such an honor for them to get the recognition they deserve for all of their hard work!"

Alexander Wang's edgy, urban and futuristic designs are what sets him apart (that, and the fact that his lines are now stocked in 700+ stores).
