The Lonely Island guys didn't create Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping with a single pop star in mind, but if you've seen the trailer, you can't help but pick up on some Justin Bieber vibes.
"There are a few direct Bieber references," Andy Samberg told E! News. "Because we obviously watched his documentaries as well as all the other ones..."
As Jorma Taccone pointed out, two specific Bieber references are included in the trailer, which makes the mockumentary overall "seem a little more Bieber-heavy than it is," Andy added.
Andy, Jorma and Akiva Schaffer actually worked with Justin back in 2012 on Saturday Night Live's 100th SNL Digital Short. "We're friends of Bieber," said Andy. "We're fans of Bieber!"
Several different singers served as inspiration for Popstar, "There's Drake, there's some Macklemore," said Jorma. "There's a little bit of Beyoncé to Destiny's Child...There's some Alicia Keys. There's some direct Katy Perry references..."
