Fact: Blake Lively is absolutely slaying the 2016 Cannes Film Festival.

The Shallows actress has appeared on multiple red carpets at the French event and has looked nothing but stunning. She has channeled Cinderella and she has also made her baby bump the ultimate accessory (as she has done before), so it's safe to say she has won. But no matter how gorgeous she continues to look on the red carpet, Lively isn't immune to backlash.

The former Gossip Girl star shared a photo from the red carpet on Instagram Tuesday, giving fans a look from the front and from the back. Lively's beaded gold gown clung to her curves in all the right places and made her look even more goddess-like than usual. The back, however, provided a completely different view. Let's just be honest and say what it is we're all thinking: Her butt looks huge.

She obviously noticed it, too, because she captioned the split photo, "L.A. face with an Oakland booty."

Cue the uproar.

Lively was obviously just referencing Sir Mix-A-Lot's hit song "Baby Got Back," but that didn't stop the Internet from going nuts.

Others realized she was cheekily referencing a hit early '90s song.

But shouldn't we just let this go? Honestly, Lively isn't the first celebrity to make the comparison. In 2015, Khloe Kardashian tweeted a split of herself that flaunted her curves and used the exact same caption. Katy Perry described herself on Twitter in 2012 using the rapper's quote. And the most random, but debatably most hilarious reference goes to the little kid from Jerry Maguire, Jonathan Lipnicki, who posted a throwback and wrote, "#tbt #2006 LA face with an Oakland booty. #waterpolo #agoura #datasstho."

None of these stars faced backlash, so why should Lively? In fact, Lipnicki was praised for his reference. The double standards abound...

Ryan Reynolds and his wife go out of their way to live private lives, choosing to raise their daughter James out of the spotlight in upstate New York. Would Lively really go out of her way to offend the masses? Probably not. She is a mom, an actress and yes, happens to be tall and gorgeous, but she doesn't seem like the type who would make a racist comment and mean it. Lively's Instagram feed is filled with pictures of her making funny faces, enjoying the jewels she gets to borrow if only for a night and behind-the-scenes moments from life with her husband. Although she's an A-lister, her life appears to be normal (with exception to those jewels, obviously).

So let's just sit back, relax and enjoy the gorgeous fashion.
