It looks like Jamal's survival isn't the only mystery heading in to tonight's season two finale of Empire.
While we're pretty certain we know the answer to the question of Jussie Smollett's continued involvement in the Fox hit come season three, we're less clear on which two characters will take a walk down the aisle by the end of the hour. The writers would like us to believe it's Hakeem (Bryshere Gray) and Laura (Jamila Velazquez) getting hitched, but we know better than that. This is Empire, after all, where nothing ever happens as expected.
So, who's getting married? E! News put the cast of the ratings juggernaut in the hot seat at the after-party for Fox's 2016 Upfronts presentation in New York City—to varying degrees of success.
Smollett would only confirm that a wedding indeed will take place, but would he be so kind as to reveal the bride and groom? "I could," he said, glaring into the camera, making it clear that he wasn't going to be the snitch. Strike one.
"You can look forward to a new addition to the Lyon family. A new family member," his co-star Ta'Rhonda Jones (Porsha) told us. "That's it, I'm not giving you nothing else. A new addition to the family." Strike two.
Kaitlin Doubleday (Rhonda) was a bit more forthcoming, however. "There is a wedding that is going to taking place. It's not going to be who you think it's going to be," she admitted. (Sorry, Hakeem and Laura fans!) "And it probably won't be anybody that makes you happy either." Could that mean Cookie (Taraji P. Henson) and Lucious (Terrence Howard)? We shudder at the thought.
