Everybody's coming on Empire, until they're not. Mariah Carey, one of the rumored Empire guest stars, set the record straight about where her guest appearance stands when she stopped by Bravo's Watch What Happens Live.
"I saw Lee, like two nights ago," the star of E!'s upcoming Mariah's World told host Andy Cohen about her friend Lee Daniels, Empire's co-creator. "He knows that I want to do Empire, but I like working with Lee on movie projects because he's still a great director."
There was one idea for an Empire role for Carey, however it wasn't the right fit for the songstress.
"They had this one idea and I was like, ‘Look if I'm not going to have an amazing character arc then why would we go on Empire to be basically a version of myself ?' So leave it to Lee and he'll have me in a wig they took out of a garbage can and a mustache," she said with a laugh.
Carey has worked with Daniels on more than one occasion, notably in Precious and Lee Daniels' The Butler. In August 2015 Daniels said Carey would be making her way to the Fox drama. He made the announcement as she received her star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
The Mariah's World star is just one of the many rumored famous faces that will be making their way to Empire. Other potential guest stars include Oprah Winfrey and Common. The Fox musical drama has featured plenty of famous guests over the last two season, including Rosie O'Donnell, Vivica A. Fox, Marisa Tomei, Alicia Keys, Naomi Campbell, Pitbull, Ludacris and Jennifer Hudson.
Well, there's always next season. Fox has already ordered a third season of Empire.
