It wouldn't be a Chicago Fire finale without 1. A big fire. 2. Danger. That's exactly what you can expect in the Tuesday, May 17 season five finale.

"You can always assume there's a life in danger, yes," Monica Raymund told E! News at NBC's 2016 Upfront presentation. "There's a structure fire that we deal with in the season finale. The top level of this building starts to collapse and there's this huge blowout and then one of us basically has to…Can you just?"

"Just say it," Taylor Kinney laughed.

"I get to hang off of a window ledge and he gets to save me! It's very damsel in distress," she said.

Kinney said they filmed that whole ordeal for a day or two. "I had a little bruise here," Raymund said, pointing to her ribs. "I was holding on by a harness for hours."

As for the other kind of peril, their personal lives, Kinney said Severide's in new territory with a romance in the firehouse. "[The work romance] is a first time for my character that the audience has seen, so we'll see how it blows up in his face," he said with a laugh.

"See how that implodes," Raymund teased.

Does it have to blow up though?

"No, I can almost promise you that it will somehow explode," he said.

Raymund's Dawon on the other hand is in a whole new arena as a foster mom. How that new role changes her relationships, particularly with Casey (Jesse Spencer) remains to be seen.

"I'm still figuring it out. We see that Casey and Dawson still have a lot of friction. We see him come over and see if he can be part of the family because this is something she decided she has to do, no matter what, just like the independent and stubborn woman that she is," she teased. "I think we'll see them try to manage that and hopefully they can figure out how to be a family together."

Chicago Fire airs Tuesdays, 10 p.m. on NBC.

(E! and NBC are both part of the NBCUniversal family.)
