Jimmy Fallon, The Lonely Island and The Roots Give "I'm on a Boat" a 2016 Update with Classroom Instruments

The Grammy-nominated rap collaboration was redone by the late-night talk show host and his band

Ahoy, sailors! It's music time.

Nearly a decade after "I'm on a Boat" first arrived on the music scene, one of the industry's most memorable rap parodies is getting an update for a new generation of fans thanks to Jimmy Fallon and his classroom instruments. 

Clad in classic sailor suits, the Tonight Show host, The Roots and the members of The Lonely Island—including Andy Samberg and Akiva Schaffer—gave it their all armed with some peculiar instruments. Samberg mastered the melodies of a rubber ducky and flip flops while the other performers used ordinary items ranging from a wood block to a banana shaker to make the Grammy-nominated song come to life. 

However, arguably the most hysterical props were the dunce cap and The Joy of Land book spotted in the background on comedian Jorma Taccone

The performance comes on the heels of The Lonely Island's newest venture: a silver screen mockumentary entitled Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping.

In the saga, which has been a longtime secret project from Judd Apatow, superstar Connor4Real falls into a downward spiral after his second album flops. Is it the makings of a cult classic like "I'm on a Boat" became? We'll just have to wait until June 3 to find out.
