Starbucks Is Bringing Back Skinny Frappuccinos, but the Trick Is They're Just Teeny, Tiny Regular Frappuccinos

It's a big ol' catch.

What is this, a frozen coffee drink for ants?

If you're asking about Starbucks' new Mini Frappuccinos, then the answer would have to be yes, because that is the only explanation for a beverage that tiny.

The situation is this: There was a period last year in which Starbucks introduced a brand new version of their traditional frozen concoction, created with basically half the fat and calories of the old drink. They were short-lived but apparently much-loved, because the coffee company just announced that they'll be bringing back these diet drinks as of today, just in time for summer. (In case you needed another reminder that corporate America wants you to get that bikini bod.)

To get the skinniest of skinny, customers can order the regular Coffee Frapp, which comes out to 120 calories even with whole milk, or the Caramel Frapp, which will run you about 140 calories. Not bad, eh? Sure, you'll have to forgo the whipped cream in either scenario, but anyone looking to skinny-fy their drink probably knows that already.

So what's the catch?

The catch is that these special edition no-guilt bevs are approximately 10 ounces. That's smaller than a can of Diet Coke—which, mind you, one could enjoy for zero calories and receive almost the same jolt of caffeine. When was the last time you went to Starbucks hoping to order a drink that could fit in the palm of your hand?

Unless you're Michael Phelps, probably never.
