We all became obsessed with the idea of Michael Fassbender and Alicia Vikander after news broke that the two started dating in 2014, and now we get to watch their love blossom on screen.
The pair met while filming their upcoming film The Light Between Oceans, which has just released it's first official trailer. The film is based on a 2013 psychological thriller novel by M. L. Stedman in which Fassbender plays Tom Sherbourne, a lighthouse keeper who lives on an island in Australia with his wife Isabel, played by Vikander. The two end up losing their newborn child before one day discovering a boat that has washed up onshore. On board are a dead man and a living baby, who they end up taking in and raising as their own daughter, Lucy.
However, as we watch the trailer play out, the couple struggles with what to do after they meet Lucy's real mother, played by Rachel Weisz, who explains how she lost her daughter and husband at sea.
Since the conclusion of the filming, Vikander and Fassbender have continued dating. Not only were they spotted soaking up the sun during a trip to Australia in 2014, but they were also spotted sharing a sweet moment of PDA at the 2016 Golden Globes.
Though they've maintained a low-key relationship in the public eye, Vikander did dish to E! News about her New Year's Eve kiss with her hunky beau!
The Light Between Oceans will be released in September.
