If you're not a princess, bride, or constantly in the midst of getting a haircut, you've probably had a little trouble picking out an emoji that perfectly describes you. Sure, you can choose from different hair colors and skin tones now, but when it comes to portraying females in different careers, we've got a bit of a problem. They have policemen, a businessman, a male detective, (a snowman!), etc., but can anyone tell us where all the hard working ladies went!? Google noticed the lack of career representation among female emojis and decided to do something about it. In an effort to lessen gender inequality, Google proposed a set of empowered female emojis such as doctors, teachers, mechanics, chefs, and more. We're loving the rock star, BTW. No longer would ladies be stuck hair flipping and nail painting our way through group text. Imagine that!

It looks as though the proposal would also give each new professional female emoji a male alternative, so no one is left out. The proposal asks Unicode (the people who take care of all things emoji related) to make a change stating, "Google wants to increase the representation of women in emoji and would like to propose that Unicode implementers do the same. Our proposal is to create a new set of emoji that represents a wide range of professions for women and men with a goal of highlighting the diversity of women's careers and empowering girls everywhere." Here's hoping these are the next set of emojis to come!
