The final chapter of Castle is upon us. ABC canceled the long-running drama starring Nathan Fillion and Stana Katic after eight seasons. Yep, canceled after riling fans up by announcing Katic would not return for season nine. Katic took to Twitter after the news broke.

"Dear Castle fans, cast and crew: Your devotion to our show has carried us for these unforgettable eight seasons," she wrote in a hand-written note posted on Twitter. "I'm lucky to have met and worked with and for the lot of you. I will always be grateful. Big hug, Stana."

Katic and Tamala Jones were not asked to renew their contracts for season nine. After announcing their exits, ABC said, "Kate Beckett has been a beloved character on our hit series Castle for the past 8 years. We are grateful for Stana Katic's talent and dedication to the series and we hope to continue our relationship. Tamala Jones has also been an integral part of the series and we are grateful she was a part of Castle."

"Was a good run but #Castle done. Aight I've processed the end of living an 8 year dream & now I must thank those who have made that dream possible. You! The #Castle fans," he wrote. So thank you two the fans for giving me my own personal unicorn!"
