Farewell Captain Canary, we hardly knew ye!

Before one of our favorite TV flirtations could really turn into something substantial, Legends of Tomorrow went and killed off half of the not-quite-couple. RIP Captain Cold, a.k.a. Leonard Snart (Wentworth Miller), who was killed in tonight's penultimate episode of season one.

But there's good news: This is not the last we've seen of the Prison Break star, who's been off filming the reboot of his Fox series. Miller will continue to recur on Legends of Tomorrow—along with all the other DC Comics superhero shows on the network that are produced by Greg Berlanti. (The fact that we'll see Snart again on Legends shouldn't come as a surprise, since the group travels through time on a weekly basis.)

"We always knew that he wouldn't be a permanent member of The Waverider," EP/creator Berlanti told Deadline after Miller's final regular episode of Legends aired. "We also knew we loved him on the show and all the shows, Flash as well."

Instead, Miller signed a contract that will allow him the flexibility to recur on multiple shows as Snart, but not be a full-time crew member on the Waverider next season.

"What it really emulates to us is the comic books themselves where there really are a cast of characters," Berlanti told Deadline. He "won't be part of the team of Legends on board of The Waverider next year, he will have a very active role on the show."
