The One Chicago universe keeps expanding. There will be a fourth Chicago show on NBC's lineup this fall now that the network has officially ordered its latest spinoff, Chicago Justice, to series.
The show, from Law & Order creator Dick Wolf, follows the State's Attorney's dedicated team of prosecutors and investigators as they navigate the city's heated politics and controversy head-on in their fearless pursuit of justice. The team will take on the city's high-stakes, high-profile cases while balancing public opinion, power struggles within the system and, above all, an unwavering passion for the law.
Chicago Justice's backdoor pilot aired last night on Chicago P.D., when one of the city's finest was shot in the line of duty. The episode earned 6.7 million viewers and a 1.4 rating for the show, boosting ratings from the week prior.
The cast of the spinoff includes Philip Winchester, Carl Weathers, Nazneen Contractor, Joelle Carter and Ryan-James Hatanaka, and will debut in the fall.
Wolf said in January that it would be "short-sighted" not to think about expanding the One Chicago world, especially after the ratings for the epic three-show crossover were so high. The new show "would probably be in the legal system and you may see the same way you say in the last three years, some people doing legal things that would give an insight into where that could go."
