James Corden has a lot of work to do in just the one month he has before hosting the Tonys.

The Late Late Show funnyman says he is considering incorporating Carpool Karaoke into the big night, but...

"I don't believe we should do it as part of the Tonys because the truth is it doesn't really work less than seven minutes and you don't want to leave the Beacon Theatre to celebrate a night of something that's live for something that you have to pre-tape and edit," Corden told me last night at the Rebels With a Cause cancer research gala.

How about live Carpool Karaoke?

"Do it live?" Corden asked. "Are you mad? That would be awful. That's just lunacy."

He added, "We actually don't know if it's something we could or should do. But, of course, we often think about it—is there a way of doing it?"

The night will mark Corden's debut hosting the Tonys. "Lower your expectations," he cracked. "We just started to think of what we want to do and what we want to say."

We cannot wait!

The Tony Awards will air live on CBS June 12 at 8 p.m. ET.

During last night's Rebels With a Cause, Corden sang a brilliantly customized version of Justin Bieber's "Love Yourself."

The chorus: "Since you like the way you hurt so much, cancer, you can go and f--k yourself.

Christina Aguilera, Kristin Chenoweth and Leona Lewis also performed.

The third biennial event, which honored Dr. Cheryl Saban and Haim Saban, benefitted research led by Dr. David B. Agus, director of the USC Norris Westside Cancer Center and the Center of Applied Molecular Medicine (CAMM) at the Keck School of Medicine of USC.

The gala also included a surprise announcement by Oracle founder Larry Ellison that he was donating $200 million to the Universality of Southern California to establish the Lawrence J. Ellison Institute for Transformative Medicine of USC.
