The 35-year-old Grammy winner has sported nearly every hairstyle in the book, from platinum blond Marilyn Monroe-esque ringlets to scrunched black tresses. Her newest look—a head of sleek violet locks featuring a pierced front braid—appears to be a nod to the days when Aguilera was still emerging as the powerhouse songstress we know today.
While this is certainly not the first time the "Genie in a Bottle" singer has opted for purple locks, she has recently brought back the braids she rocked at the turn of the millennium.
In 2002, as she stripped off her good girl image with the pop hit, "Dirrty," Aguilera famously sported straight hair with braids mixed in, similar to what she's trying again now. For an edgier vibe, Aguilera pierced the front braid with a series of silver hoops, similar to how she would braid strips of hair with black mixed in back in the day.
However, don't count on the current look sticking for long.
"I love changing up my look," she told E! News' Carissa Loethen. "If I can't do video work right now, I get it wherever I can—sitting in the chair."
Just like how she itches to change her look, Aguilera is also eager to get back in the recording studio.
"Right after I leave my coaching duties, I will go back into my artistic self and really unleash what I've been dying to for so long."
Unfortunately, there's no saying what exactly the "Beautiful" singer is preparing to unveil musically next.
"Everything will unravel in its own time, but I'm super excited to get back to what I'm really meant to do."
