Chris Evans is a New England Patriots fan. That is a damn fact and we try not to hold that against him. (Kidding!)
With Captain America: Civil War in theaters, fans have gone back to rewatch the first two Captain America films to really get the entire Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) experience. That's when this reddit user stumbled upon what looks to be a love letter to Tom Brady and the Patriots right smack in the middle of Captain America: The Winter Soldier.
When the helicarriers pull up the list of names to target, you'll see that the list includes a Thomas Brody, a General Julian Addelman, a Lt. Nate Matthews, a Jerod Allen and an Officer Daniel Amendan. Basically, the 2013 New England Patriots are on the hit list in Winter Soldier. Who was probably responsible for this little cameo?
Most likely Patriots super fan Chris Evans, Captain America himself. He even tweeted the article that the Patriots wrote about the blink-and-miss-it appearance. Although, if he is behind the nod to his favorite team, why would he put them in a scene that essentially infers they are all about to be murdered? What kind of fan are you, Christopher?!
Now we have to go back and watch every single Marvel movie to see if there are any other references to NFL teams. Did Chris Pratt get in a Seattle Seahawks mention in Guardians of the Galaxy? There is only one way to find out: we have to take the day off and watch every single MCU film. For science!
