Many of the stars posted sweet throwback pics of them with their mothers.
"#happymothersday This picture is three #generations. Thank you to my #mom for teaching me everything she knew and encouraging me to learn more," Sarah Michelle said alongside a pic of her with mom Rosellen Gellar.
She also paid tribute to her and husband Freddie Prinze Jr.'s kids, daughter Charlotte, 6, and son Rocky, 3.
"Thank you to my children for inspiring me every day and filling me with more love than I ever thought possible," Sarah Michelle wrote. "And thank you to the village that supports me. This picture was taken when my 'village' (also known as my girlfriends) threw me the most amazing baby shower in honor of the little Prinze in my belly. #thankyou I am forever #grateful."
The Buffy alum and Cruel Intentions star also shared another, older throwback pic of her with her mother.
Kruger shared a throwback photo of her with mom Maria-Theresa Heidkrüger.
"Happy Mother's Day to my beautiful mom!" Kruger wrote on Instagram.
Nicky Hilton, who is about to become a first-time mom, posted on her Instagram page a picture of her and mother Kathy Hilton on her wedding day. Nicky and James Rothschild wed in London last July.
"Happy Mother's Day mom, she wrote. "You are amazing and I'm so proud to be your daughter."
Tyra Banks, who welcomed her first child, son York Banks Asla, via a surrogate earlier this year, posted on her Instagram page a sweet three generations photo with the baby and her mom, Carolyn London.
"I'm hearing, 'Happy Mother's Day' and I can't believe how lucky I am!" she wrote. "Of all the fashionable hats I wear, I love being a #mother the most. #HappyMothersDay from me and my mama to all the wonderful women of the world!"
