In Hollywood, it almost seems as though the stork really does deliver.
That's the only reasonable explanation as to how so many female celebrities seemingly snap back to their pre-baby weight within weeks of delivering their little ones, right?
Well, in reality, the pressure women in show business feel to look trim right after having a baby has plenty to do with it, leading celebs to seek out the best trainers and diet plans to help them shed pounds.
Alyssa Milano, meanwhile, admits that the pressure to lose weight was "self-inflicted."
"Any pressure I felt is from seeing other celebrities get down to their [pre]baby weight in two weeks," the actress, Project Runway All Stars host and mother of two with hubby Dave Bugliari told E! News' Will Marfuggi.
"I just know, for me, that's just not in my make-up, biologically. There is no way I could have dropped all the baby weight in two weeks, I don't know how they do it!" She added, "It's exhausting, and the only thing you have really is food to get you through those first two months! Especially if you're breastfeeding, so hats off to [those other moms]."
But happily, devotion to her new baby girl, Elizabella Dylan, and son Milo helped her focus on what was really important.
"I was just so overwhelmed with being a mom and wanting to raise my kids and just look at them in total awe of like, 'I created this!'" she told us.
Just saying', though, Milano's looking quite svelte these days, so how did she ultimately get back to what she calls her "happy weight"?
"I gave myself 18 months. I reached my happy weight when my daughter was 18 months, and I did it through Atkins," the Mistresses star explained. "So I cut out sugars, carbs…I eat a little bit of carbs now, which, people think on Atkins you can't eat carbs, but you know, as long as you do it the right way."
And "happy weight" is different from goal weight.
"There are so many variables, you don't know what a goal weight is especially when you're 43 and you just had a baby, I don't know if I'm going to get back to my pre-pregnancy weight," Milano said. "I'm breastfeeding also, it's a big part of it, and so, I just call it my happy weight."
Alyssa also works out diligently, going to spin class four to five times a week, Pilates three times a week, and the occasional Zumba class for fun.
Over the past 18 months, Milano says that she has lost 55 pounds—an achievement that would make anyone happy.
In addition to talking about the now, the actress also threw it back to her Who's the Boss? days, recalling one of her favorite memories on set during the hit sitcom's eight seasons.
"I remember turning 16 years old, my sweet 16 party, and [Tony Danza] gave me a beautiful diamond heart necklace," Milano recalled, "…and I still have it of course! That was incredibly special."
The UNICEF Ambassador reveals she is still in touch with some of her former co-stars: Tony sweetly emails Milano asking for pictures of her kids, and she and Danny Pintauro talk at least once a week.
