Ryan Reynolds' Deadpool might be more dangerous than you anticipated.
In a new ad for Deadpool's release on Blu-ray, Reynolds provides the voice over for his character's rendezvous with a new onscreen girlfriend.
"Don't let age, Mother Nature or groin trauma tell you what to do. #Deadpole," he posted with the video on Twitter.
"You're closer now than ever," he says as the video begins. "Deadpool on Blu-ray helps you be ready anytime. Ask your doctor if your heart is healthy enough for Deadpool on Blu-ray."
The ad features all the stereotypical images from commercials for erectile dysfunction ads like a couple working on a project together, going for a walk and preparing a meal together. Naturally, Reynolds takes it to the next level by adding some phallic imagery such as bananas. Unlike normal ads, which tend to leave out any sexual activity, Reynolds' Deadpool winds up in a bathtub with his naked partner.
Be careful before viewing Deadpool on Blu-ray, though, because it has some worrisome side effects.
"If you experience joint pain, easy bruising, vomiting or clay-colored stool, stop watching Deadpool immediately," Reynolds warns. "If you experience hair loss, skin sores and irritability, you may actually be Deadpool."
Fortunately, those who actually purchase the DVD will experience at least one positive effect. "If you experience an erection lasting more than four hours—you're welcome," he ends the promo.
Deadpool was a roaring box office success, almost immediately receiving a sequel that will have Reynolds starring once again as the crude, dirty antihero. The marketing campaign ahead of the movie's Valetine's Day weekend release involved Reynolds pretending to be a bachelor on The Bachelor, teaming up with a group of little kids who were dressed as X-Men and so much more.
All of it obviously worked, as it earned more than $761 worldwide. It's time to suit up, Reynolds!
