Praise be to Beyonce Pad Thai and Hulu, because The Mindy Project is coming back for another season!
Hulu made all of our dreams came true last year when it saved the canceled Fox series from an early demise, giving it not only a fourth season, but an extra long fourth season of 26 episodes. Now it seems that the streaming site has no intention of giving up on Mindy anytime soon, since they're bringing her back for a fifth season!
The Mindy Project is currently nearing the end of its fourth season as Mindy (Mindy Kaling) deals with her break-up with baby daddy Danny (Chris Messina), and works on getting her egg freezing business, Later Baby, off the ground.
While fans have been incredibly worried about Mindy and Danny after this rocky season that found them splitting up over their very different views on raising their son, Leo, Kaling assured us that the journey will be worth it.
"What we'll say is we never want to take them on a path that's going to short change them," Kaling said. "They should feel safe with us."
The news comes along with Hulu's annual Upfront presentation this morning, where it was also announced that the cult drama, The Path, has been renewed for a second season. The Path, which centers on the members of a fictional religion called Meyerism, stars Aaron Paul, Michelle Monaghan, and Hugh Dancy, and is currently in the middle of its first season after debuting at the end of March.
Hulu's other upcoming projects include a second election special with Triumph the Insult Comic Dog, which will debut later this year, and a partnership with Live Nation that will allow the site to present specially curated virtual reality concerts in Hulu's virtual reality app, which launched in March.
New episodes of The Mindy Project arrive on Tuesdays, while The Path airs every Wednesday on Hulu.
