As the most stylish event of the season, the Met Gala is an annual parade of the world's most innovative fashion. With all of the glitz and glamour, onlookers would rarely expect that some gowns might also require a hazard sign.

Sky-high stiletto heels, outlandish headpieces and battery-operated lighting were just some of the many challenges this year's fashionistas faced while navigating the infamous Met Gala steps this year.

As the saying goes, beauty is pain. By the looks of these stunning designs, the women were in for a whole lot of it.

Take for instance Ciara's jewel-encrusted gown designed by H&M. Though the songstress looked like a flapper reincarnated for a modern makeover, the dress itself kept Ciara on her feet.

Before arriving at the gala, she took a video of herself on Snapchat standing in the car. Why would a star stand in the car? Well, if she had sat down, Ciara gambled crushing the rhinestones beneath her—and probably ripping the cloth and her skin in the process.

While Lady Gaga's Versace bodysuit and matching jacket were equally mesmerizing, it was the singer's sky-high platform boots with needle-thin heels that caused some concern.

Immediately, chatter began to build on social media as Gaga strutted the red carpet with ease.

"Does the #MetGala give awards?" one Twitter user wrote. "Lady Gaga should win one for wearing these shoes & not harming herself or others."

Seriously, those heels could have caused the star to take quite the embarrassing tumble, though we know even if she had, the queen of cool would have embraced the faux pas and turned it into the highlight of the night.

Diane von Furstenberg knows a thing or two about turning a look into a legendary trend. After all, have you seen her iconic wrap dresses?

However, these butterfly hair accessories could easily have gotten loose in her curly tendrils and fallen right into her eyes—yanking her hair out in the process.

As Karolina Kurkova exclusively revealed to E! News hours before the Met Gala, her Marchesa gown was actually lined with wiring to light up the rose buds adorning her bodice as determined by a social media algorithm. The theme was technology after all.

The wiring was fueled by a battery pack that was nestled secretly on her hip underneath the tulle.

While the technology was the creation of IBM's most advanced cognitive computer, Watson, imagine if there had been a small glitch and the supermodel's wardrobe had suddenly lit on fire. Thankfully, instead, she strutted the red carpet looking like an ethereal flawless beauty without any digital faux pas in sight.

First-time Met Gala attendee Kylie Jenner revealed the uncomfortable side effects of her glitzy Balmain gown once the soirée had ended and she had headed home to change for the after-parties.

"When ur dress made you bleed and ur feet are purple," she captioned a photo on Snapchat of her legs scratched up above her colorful toes.

Don't think for a second the reality star has any regrets about her show-stopping look. "It was worth it though," she later wrote on her account.

As a bonafide Hollywood legend, Bette Midler can wear just about anything. However, her voluminous rhinestone-encrusted headpiece could have been a bit more of a hazard than haute couture.

Thankfully, no one managed to sneak up behind the songstress and get accidentally knocked in the head by her spirals.
