If you think that the Met Gala (particularly this year's technology-themed occasion) would call for over-the top heavy makeup, think again.

While it's true that on the fashion front, ornate details and metallic fabrics reigned supreme, the overall beauty landscape had a much fresher, less-is-more feel. Take Girls actress Allison Williams, for example. A just-bitten lip and noticeably dewy skin was really all there was to it.

"Her dress was very ornate and rich, so I didn't want to overdo her makeup. I really just went for one element, the skin, and then added a dark lip," shared celeb makeup artist Gianpaolo Ceciliato, who created her low-key look on behalf of AmorePacific.

Step 1: Start by prepping clean skin with Amorepacific Green Tea Seed Treatment Oil in the place of a primer before applying foundation. "This to me works better than any makeup setter: This is the best way to ensure makeup lasts a long time," advised the pro.

Step 2: Next, for foundation, use two different shades of AmorePacific Age Correcting Foundation Cushion Broad Spectrum SPF to create a super-simple contour. Use your lighter color at the center of the forehead, under the eyes and on the chin.

Step 3: Then, apply the darker shade all the way around the hairline, on the cheekbones and on the jaw to create a subtle contour like Allison's.

Step 4: To round out the look, fill out the brows (our go-to is Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Wiz) and pack on a heavy hand of mascara (our pick is Urban Decay Perversion Mascara).

Step 5: Finally, to vamp up the look, a bold berry lip (like our fave, Charlotte Tilbury in Matte Revolution Glastonberry) will more than do the trick.
