Don't Mess With My Coffee: Five Hilarious Times Customers Got Salty With Starbucks

Remember those polar bear cookies?

Have you ever woken up one morning and decided to sue someone because YOLO? One woman seems to have done just that, dropping at $5 million lawsuit on the lap of Starbucks. Did she get burned by scalding hot coffee? Nope. Did she find a dead rat in her Pumpkin Spice Latte? Nah. Stacy Pincus sued Starbucks because there was just too much dang ice in her drink. According to NBC News, the Illinois woman sued on behalf of any customer who may have experienced this exact fiasco in the past ten years. What caused her to reach the conclusion that legal action was the way to go? Her suit says customers are typically winding up with half of the fluid ounces (listed on the menu) in their drink.

Pincus' suit alleges that Starbucks is knowingly messing with customers in order to get them to pay full price for less sippage. It's an interesting theory, but still, a lawsuit is a taaaad extra. Of course, Starbucks seems to think so too, as their spokeswoman said the shenanigans were "without merit." On that note, there's a whole list of crazy things customers have started beef with Starbucks over, from cookies to lattes and everything in between. Let us guide you down the road to Crazytown, as we revisit the corniest Starbucks v. Customer moments in recent history.

Similar to the ice fiasco, underfilling lattes is also a thing. Law360 notes, two latte drinkers accused Starbucks of not filling their drinks to the top in order to rip off its customers. "By underfilling its lattes, thereby shortchanging its customers, Starbucks has saved countless millions of dollars in the cost of goods sold and was unjustly enriched by taking payment for more product than it delivers," the customers noted. Could it be? A Starbucks conspiracy!? To be honest, we wouldn't be pleased about this either, but again, is a lawsuit really necessary? #FirstWorldProblems.

Eye roll of the century! Remember when Starbucks introduced these cute little holiday cookies? Remember when tons of customers thought that cute red scarf was a bloody neck? Yeah. That happened. Not much else to say about that one!

*Hides head in hands*

We told you the other day about how Starbucks went and changed up its loyalty program, and everyone flipped the eff out. When customers went to upgrade the app to enroll in the new program, they noticed all of their stars had vanished. As if that wasn't sucky enough, you no longer get one star each time you visit. Customers get two stars per every dollar spent and to reach Gold status, it will take you 300 (instead of the previous 30) stars to get there. Starbucks = savage. The customer reactions were so salty and delicious that we had to include this fail on our list.

In other overly-sensitive holiday Starbucks news, the red cup fiasco of last year was quite the shiz show. Customers were going nutso over the fact that their favorite coffee company supposedly 'removed Christmas' from their cups in favor of the simple red design. Customers were telling baristas their names were "Merry Christmas," per request of one angry customer and his video which sparked the red cup (over)reaction. One barista commented on the video "I work at Starbucks and there hasn't been anything innately Christmas on the cups in years. Sure there have been snowflakes, scarves, and snowmen, but they haven't said the word Christmas on them since I've worked here. We even have a Christmas blend coffee." End of story.
