Temperance Brennan is a proud feminist, thank you very much.
In Thursday's episode of Bones, the Jeffersonian team investigates the remains of a car crash victim who happens to be the founder of a men's rights organization. Naturally, Brennan (Emily Deschanel) is horrified at the concept of a group claiming that middle-aged white men are oppressed by man-hating feminists. The episode will open up discussion about gender politics, allowing Brennan to lay down some knowledge about feminism to her in-the-dark husband.
E! News has an exclusive sneak peek at the episode, in which Booth (David Boreanaz) questions his wife about being a member of the women's rights organization Women for Change. "Who knew I married a bra-burner," he asks with a chuckle. But Brennan is quick to educate him: "Women for Change is not a bunch of '60s radicals." They simply object to things like women making less than men. "It's discriminatory and illogical. It makes about as much sense as someone believing in jinxes."
Of course, then Booth takes the opportunity to discuss his feelings on hockey jinxes and the Butterfly Effect.
Star Deschanel told E! News before the show's midseason return that the slightly more lighthearted episode would help start a dialogue. "We have to investigate that world and so obviously everyone's talking about feminism and what it means to be a feminist and what means to be a meninist," she said.
We all know that Brennan has no patience for the illogical, so yes, she will lose her cool when she is dealing with the organization's co-founder. Meanwhile, Angela and the Jeffersonian team will continute to deal with Hodgins' adjustment to living in a wheelchair and Booth is convinced that Brennan is a jinx for his beloved Philadelphia Flyers.
