Watch: Will "Arrested Development" Season 5 Happen?

Consider this development arrested.

It's a new day, so that means it's time for the latest update on the status of Arrested Development's fifth season, and apologies to Bluth family fans, but it doesn't sound like it's happening anytime soon according to star Will Arnett.

"It's a rough one for me to do because it is something that we are talking about doing and we don't know if it is going to come together," Arnett told E! News' Marc Malkin at CinemaCon while promoting the latest installment of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. "But it is something everyone wants to do in theory, but you know how theories are. They just disproved the theory of relativity after all these years!"

F. Scott Schafer for Netflix

Patience is a virtue for Arrested Development fans, as Netflix brought the series back in 2013—really kicking off the online streaming site's revival trend—after it was canceled by Fox in 2006.

So while he wasn't able to provide any official confirmation that the show will return, Arnett did offer up a sliver of hope, revealing creator Mitch Hurwitz has "written some stuff" already, so it's really a matter of when, not if, season five will happen. "All the cast wants to get together and do it, we have a really fun time, we'll just see what happens," Arnett, who also stars in Netflix's new comedy Flaked, said.

And Arnett isn't the only Bluth family member speaking out about new episodes, with Tony Hale telling The Huffington Post, "I know for a fact that everyone wants to do it." We repeat: it's all a matter of when.

In June of last year, producer Brian Grazer said the cast's busy schedules would delay season five, but insisted, "Netflix is determined to do more episodes so we're going to do more episodes. It's a lot of juggling of all these stars' lives." (That being said, he said production would kick off in January or February of 2016...and it didn't.)
