Talk about a curious professor.

When Kate Middleton and Prince William made an appearance Monday evening at an event honoring Queen Elizabeth's 90th birthday, they may have expected some delicious cake, party favors and good company.

As it turns out, the Duchess of Cambridge was asked a personal question during the celebration that is receiving some attention.

"We said, 'How do you lose all the weight after having two kids?'" Professor Bulbul Dhar-James told multiple reporters when recanting the day. "And she said, 'I am running after my kids!'"

That wasn't all! The professor later asked how Prince George and Princess Charlotte's mom stays so happy during all of her engagements.

"I asked her, ‘Aren't you tired of smiling?' And she said, ‘I'm just reciprocating. Everyone is so warm.'" Eloquent and classy wouldn't you say?

Professor Bulbul ultimately ended the brief conversation by complimenting the Duchess. "They were both really gracious. She was so welcoming and warm. We told her, ‘You look much better in person than in your photographs.'"

Putting surprise questions aside, Kate appeared to enjoy her evening where Prince William delivered a speech honoring his "granny."

In front of 2,000 guests from academia, military service, politics and the business world, the Duke described his family member as a "wonderful great-grandmother" for his children and very much his "boss." And while the Queen may not turn 90 until next week, William was quick to call her the "guiding force" for her family.

William and Kate's trip will continue Tuesday where they are expected to have lunch with Prime Minister Narendra Modi. They will also travel to the Kaziranga National Park in Assam.
