When it comes to mastering the art of the on-screen transformation, Melissa McCarthy is a bonafide expert.

Whether she's playing an undercover spy, a boss with cash to burn or a thief burning other people's cash, the acclaimed comedian always finds herself playing characters desperately in need of a makeover.

Let's face it—there's nothing better than a silver screen transformation. The examples are endless—good girl turned mean girl Cady in Mean Girlsprostitute turned socialite Vivian in Pretty Woman, good girl gone leather Sandy in Grease or when Andrea finally steps foot in the fashion closet during The Devil Wears Prada...the list goes on and on.

Still, no one does it as well as McCarthy, who has seemingly mastered the art of the movie metamorphosis. Here are her best makeovers, ranked from "nice try" to downright triumphant.

4. Bridesmaids

In arguably her most iconic role to date as tom-boy Megan in Bridesmaids, the actress traded in the glitz and glamour of Hollywood for a much more relaxed look. When it comes time for the big day, she's transformed into an adult prom queen with an elaborate updo to match.

We hate to say it, but we much prefer the laid back look to it's high-maintence twin. The piled hair is making us cringe a little.

Universal Pictures

3. Identity Thief

As a thief with a penchant for stealing credit cards, the character Diana is the epitome of excess as she piles on blue eyeshadow, empties bottles of hairspray into her curly locks and loads on the accessories.

In the pivotal makeover moment, the character steps out in an elegant black dress, silky hair and a fierce smokey eye. What a glamour girl!

2. Spy

When the desk-bound CIA agent Susan Cooper finally gets the chance to go out into the field, she's forced to inhabit some drab new identities.

As the film progresses, she finally strips herself of the cat shirts and gray wigs for some attire worthy of a sleek spy.

1. The Boss

Ok, so this film never features a makeover because protagonist Michelle Darnell is already the queen of a lucrative empire with a fashion sense to match before she's caught for insider trading and locked up in prison.

While she's certainly no role model, we pretty much adore her wardrobe. Flashy, expensive and one-of-a-kind, the character's clothing is something even McCarthy covets.

"I miss Michelle Darnell and I miss those clothes. She is exactly the kind of woman I have always obsessed over with perfect nails that you know smells of an expensive perfume. Everything was like St John and cashmere and silk," she told E! News' Marc Malkin. "The clothing and the whole attitude of this woman is like—it's the exact woman I would follow around a mall for the day."
