Have mercy!
John Stamos, Rebel Wilson, Glee alum Darren Criss, Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt actor Tituss Burgess and pop singer Sara Bareilles' latest roles takes them under the sea.
The five are set to star in a production of Disney's The Little Mermaid at the Hollywood Bowl on June 3 and 4 at 8 p.m. The previous date was added following overwhelming demand. The show will include songs from the hit 1989 animated movie as well as the Broadway musical, which ran for almost two years until 2009. The cast will perform amid a screening of the film, backed by a 71-piece live orchestra and a 12-person choir, Billboard reported Wednesday.
Bareilles, 36, known for her hit song "Brave," will portray main character Ariel the mermaid and will get to sing the iconic song "Part of Your World," which she has performed at her concerts.
"I might fall over. #littlegirldreamfantasy," the singer tweeted.
Wilson, 36, who showcased her musical talents in the Pitch Perfect movies, will play Ursula the sea witch, who cackles her way through "Poor Unfortunate Souls."
"Get ready for some LIVE mermaid dancing!!" she tweeted. "So excited to be performing Ursula at the Hollywood Bowl June 4th!"
Stamos, 52, will put on a French accent to portray Chef Louis, who performs the satirically sadistic "Les Poissons."
"Well, this should be fun," the actor tweeted.
Criss, 29, will play Ariel's human love interest, Prince Eric. The character does not sing in the 1989 animated movie but in the Broadway musical, he has solo numbers titled "Her Voice" and "One Step Closer" and also sings in other ensemble songs.
Burgess, 37, will portray Sebastian the crab, who sings tracks such as "Kiss the Girl" and "Under the Sea." He previously played the role in the Broadway musical and has also starred in Jersey Boys and Good Vibrations, aka the Beach Boys musical.
Stamos has had prior music and theater experience—the Full House alum and Fuller House star has for years performed with The Beach Boys and has starred in Broadway musicals such as Cabaret, Nine, Bye Bye Birdie and How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying, in which he played J. Pierrepont Finch.
Criss also portrayed the same male role in the latter Broadway musical and starred in Hedwig and the Angry Inch between 2014 and 2015.
