Just call it one small step for Lauren Conrad, but one giant leap for reality television.

The Hills star says reality television is finally getting the recognition it deserves at tonight’s Emmy Awards. Not only did she design one of the two dresses for tonight’s Emmy Awards trophy gals (Project Runway winner Christian Siriano did the other), but Conrad is also going to be a presenter.

“I think that reality television is becoming really important in the industry, because if you turn on the TV, half of it is reality,” Conrad said at Entertainment Weekly’s sixth annual pre-Emmy bash last night at the historic Beverly Hills Post Office. “I’m happy they’re acknowledging it.”

That doesn’t mean Conrad isn’t nervous as all heck about walking onto that stage, especially since she’ll be wearing a “long” evening gown.

“I’m telling myself, I’m not going to trip,” she said. “[The dress] touches the floor.”

Meanwhile, Conrad insists she hasn’t heard anything about her ex-boyfriend Jason Wahler reportedly returning to The Hills. “Not that I know of,” Conrad said. “That’s nothing I’m aware of.”

And speaking of old relationships, Jennie Garth says things went so well between her and former foe Shannen Doherty on the new 90210, they’re likely to remain friends. “I think that we have a bright future ahead of us,” Garth cooed.

Mark-Paul Gosselaar, star of the new TNT legal drama Raising the Bar, has also been thinking about a former costar: Dustin Diamond, who played Screech on Saved by the Bell. Diamond announced in July he was writing a tell-all memoir about Bell that will apparently include allegations of off-camera sex and hard-core drug partying.

“I’m actually looking forward to it, because I’d like to know what we were doing that was so scandalous,” Gosselaar said, adding that he and Mario “A.C. Slater” Lopez have had a good laugh about the supposed revelations. “We were both like, ‘Did you do anything?’ I’m looking forward to seeing what Dustin comes up with.”

Also at the EW bash were Sarah Silverman, Eric McCormack, Kathy Griffin, David Spade, Jamie Kennedy, Alyssa Milano, Peter Facinelli and Dancing With the StarsMaksim Chmerkovskiy and Karina Smirnoff.
