There's no shame in a transitional skin-care game.

We know you have your go-to products, but your skin might actually benefit from a seasonal swap—especially as the temperatures rise and you're dealing with excess oil and clogged pores.

"During the winter, the air tends to be extra dry and most of us are having issues with dehydrated skin. That isn't so much the case in the [spring or] summer," said celeb skin expert Danny Holbus, of DMH Aesthetics. "You still want something that is moisturizing so that your skin doesn't try to overcompensate and produce extra oil, but you want to use lighter, less intense [products]."

While winter skin wants to swim in moisture, thick formulas can cause makeup caking and creasing under harsh heat. A lighter weight consistency will cover your base.

"Switch from heavy creams to serums," recommended celeb facialist Maya Zeineddine, of Dr. Norman Leaf Skin Care Clinic. "Hyaluronic-based moisturizers work best to hydrate yet not congest the pores."

Face oils have been all the rage for a few seasons now, but will the texture suffocate your pores and lead to breakouts in warmer temps? Our experts say not at all. In fact, many options contain essentials oils that will help break down dirt.

"Essential oils should never clog the pores no matter what time of year it is," said Maya. "It depends on the skin type, but some people can't use oils because it can sometimes aggravate acneic skin." In this case, the pro recommended a face oil from Benev and SkinCeuticals as an alternative.

"We tend to switch up our masks from winter to summer, depending on the climate. In the winter we love a good nourishing mask to help infuse hydration into parched skin," said Danny. "In the summer, you want a mask that will slough away dead skin cells and help dissolve any oil trapped in pores that may cause breakouts."

Instead of thick liquid foundations, let your skin breathe with tinted moisturizers.

"It's the perfect blend of hydration, coverage and sun protection in one single step," said Danny. "Make sure to always look for broad spectrum protection and use at least an SPF 30 or higher."

"Vitamin C is a natural defense for UVA protection along with your sunscreen," Maya added.
