The Contenders:

  • Nelly Furtado, "Say It Right"
  • Feist, "1 2 3 4"
  • Christina Aguilera, "Candyman"
  • Amy Winehouse, "Rehab"
  • Fergie, "Big Girls Don't Cry"

Planet Gossip's Marc Malkin says:  Fergie!

It is all about Fergie this past year. Everywhere you turned—there she was. And I'll be honest, she has totally grown on me. I've seen her perform live, like, a gazillion times now, and she hits it! This song rocks, too. As much as I love Nelly Furtado, she seems to have gotten lost along the way. "Candyman" ain't Christina Aguilera's best stuff. Feist is way too small to have a shot. And then there's Amy Winehouse. As talented as she is, her personal life has overshadowed everything else about her. Let's pray she'll get clean. If she does it right, her road to recovery will be paved with Grammy gold.
