Lea Michele is hitting the mic.
The Scream Queens star is off her show's set and inside a recording studio working on a new album! Lea tweeted and Instagrammed photos of herself working with some colleagues and captioned the pics, "Studio vibes." The Glee alum has been out and about a ton as of late since splitting up with longtime boyfriend Matthew Paetz, hitting up what seems like every Soul Cycle class imaginable and going on hikes with her friends. Now an insider tells E! News that she's using this new project as another distraction.
"She is working on new music and has a album coming out that she is really trying hard to concentrate all her time on," the source says.
Lea and Matthew dated for almost two years before calling it quits. The split came as a surprise to the actress, who "got no reason or explanation for the split," a source close to the former couple told us. Matthew left "all of a sudden and without warning," leaving Lea riddled with confusion.
Prior to the official breakup, however, the two had hit a rough patch. "They've been hot and cold for some time now—one day fighting and the next madly in love," a source close to Matthew told E! News. "Friends believe that Lea's success came between the two and Matthew began to resent Lea."
Now that the split is behind her, Lea is keeping busy with her music and her best friends. The singer-actress spent Easter weekend in New York City with BFF Jonathan Groff, where she couldn't contain her excitement. "Just the happiest girl in the world," Lea wrote on social media as her Broadway bud picked her up for a hug in the air. "And suddenly all is right.."
It was the Hamilton star's 31st birthday, and even though he's a busy bee with his smash hit musical, he was able to go to brunch with Lea and other pals to celebrate his big day.
