We're just two weeks into season 22 of Dancing with the Stars, and we've already lost a pro.

After Mark Ballas injured his back during rehearsal, he was unable to perform in tonight's show with his partner, UFC fighter Paige VanZant

Van Zant ended up performing her salsa with DWTS troupe member Alan Bernsten, with whom she had only been practicing for the past two hours.

Ballas watched from the sidelines as Bersten and VanZant scored a 24/30 from the judges, which was the highest score of the season so far.

During a camera blocking rehearsal yesterday, Ballas suddenly felt a pinch in his back.

"I think I just slipped a disc," he says. "My back just pinched funny. I'm hurting."

"If Mark can't dance tomorrow, I'm going to have to dance with someone I've never danced with before, so I'm super nervous," VanZant says.

Luckily for VanZant, she didn't have much to worry about. Judge Len Goodman said her salsa was the "best dance so far on season 22."

"I had the MRI today, we're going to get the results later on, and tomorrow they want me to have a bone scan and a CT scan, just to be safe," Ballas told Erin Andrews after Paige's routine. "We're going to get everything smoothed out, but I'm hopeful I'll be back."

Dancing with the Stars airs Mondays at 8 p.m. on ABC.
