Oh hello, web notifications

Oh hello there, web notifications.

Put the phone down for a second and hop onto your laptop, Instagram's website just got another boost.

The web version of Instagram is one step closer to matching the mobile version (about time!), now that it has added an activity tab that looks just like the notifications tab on the app, according to Tech Crunch.

Once you're logged into the Instagram website, click that little speech bubble with a heart inside of it on the top right of your screen.

You'll see a drop-down list of notifications: likes and comments on your posts, new followers, and which friends have been tagging you in ridiculous face swaps.

Unlike the notifications area on your iOS and Android app, though, you can only see the "You" section of the activity tab.

The "Following" tab, where you can see what your pals are up to? That's still missing from the website.

And, of course, the main reason for being on Instagram (editing and posting photos and videos) is still just a mobile thing.

Direct messaging is only an option on your phone or tablet, too.

But congrats, lurkers! There's more on the website if you're just there to browse.

Considering Instagram is owned by Facebook, which gets tons of action both on mobile and desktop, it makes sense that IG is finally making some strides on its site.

Just let us know when we can start regramming shirtless Chris Hemsworth pics on the website as well, OK?
