Watch: Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani Tag-Team on "The Voice"

When Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton stepped onto the A-list scene as Hollywood's latest romance, their union wasn't short of shocking. After all, he was the Nashville-born king of country. She had been the California front woman of a ska band. It seemed like the unlikeliest pair in music history.

Still, in the aftermath of their respective divorces—Shelton split from Miranda Lambert in July 2015 while Stefani ended her marriage to Gavin Rossdale the following month—their relationship blossomed.

They canoodled in between takes on the set of The Voice, shared Dairy Queen ice cream cones in Oklahoma and were the epitome of a red-hot couple at the most recent Vanity Fair Oscar party. As one source told E! News, "It's all systems go. They are very happy together."

While their romantic compatibility is full steam ahead, we still couldn't quite wrap our heads around their professional ties. Sure, they both sang for a living, but their styles could not be more different. As Shelton recently clarified, even he and his The Voice advisor can unite on some of the same melodies—but they may surprise you.

"Our common ground has been '80s pop and rock music because, when it comes to old Tears for Fears records and even like Dolly Parton...whether it was country or if it was pop or rock, if it was on the radio when we were young, we loved it," he told Hot 20's Cody Alan.

Shelton has certainly loved his lady's newest album, This Is What the Truth Feels Like—her first in a decade. He may have admittedly "gone overboard" when he went out and bought not one, but five copies.

"Hey @gwenstefani... My favorite song on your album is "Rare".. Just thought I'd let you know," he tweeted at her as the album soared to the top spot on the iTunes chart.

While the "All About Tonight" singer is all about Gwen's new jams, does she return the sentiment? Absolutely.

When asked by a fan on Facebook if Stefani would be open to a duet or collaborative album with her man, her answer was undeniably adorable.

"In my dreams.....," she wrote

A new episode of the Hot 20 with Shelton's interview premieres Saturday at 9amET on CMT.
