In honor of World Down Syndrome Day on Monday, March 21, Olivia Wilde has reunited with her Meadowland director Reed Morano to help bring a very powerful PSA about Down syndrome to life.
The nearly 2-minute clip titled "How Do You See Me?" was brought to us by Italian organization CoorDown, and helps raise awareness about the genetic disorder by illustrating how those with Down syndrome perceive themselves and are perceived by others.
Wilde acts out various hobbies and activities of any young woman's every day life, with a narrative being provided by AnnaRose Rubright, a 19-year-old New Jersey college student with Down syndrome. "This is how I see myself," Rubright is heard saying, as Wilde looks at herself in the mirror.
The young girl continues stating how she sees herself as the actress plays each action out: "I see myself as a daughter, a sister, a best friend. I see a person you can rely on. I see myself meeting someone I can share my life with. I see myself singing, dancing and laughing until I cannot breathe. And also crying sometimes."
"I see myself following my dreams even if they are impossible—especially because they're impossible," Rubright says, before revealing herself in the video. "I see myself as an ordinary person with an important meaningful beautiful life. This is how I see myself. How do you see me?"
Morano shared a piece of the PSA on Instagram writing, "Wanted to share a part of a little film that I directed/shot that taught me so much in such a short amount of time about #love. Made with the help of people I love."
Wilde followed suit, and captioned her IG video with, "This is a snippet of a short film I feel incredibly moved to be a part of, called #HowDoYouSeeMe, directed and shot by @reedmorano, in honor of #worlddownsyndromeday. Link to full film in bio."
Aside from Meadowland, Wilde and Morano recently worked together on the HBO series Vinyl.
