Who will win the role of a young Han Solo?

According to The Hollywood Reporter, tests were conducted in London last weekend involving actors Alden Ehrenreich, Jack Reynor and Taron Egerton. It's unclear if they were costume tests or screen tests, and sources also revealed that there could be a few other names on the list. Ehrenreich (Hail, Caesar!), Reynor (Transformers: Age of Extinction) and Egerton (Kingsman: The Secret Service) are said to be the frontrunners. Neither Egerton nor Ehrenreich's names were mentioned in December 2015, though, when The Hollywood Reporter first reported that the casting net included Reynor, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Ansel Elgort, Tom Felton, Dave Franco, Colton Haynes, Leo Howard, Logan Lerman, Landon Liboiron, Rami Malek, Tony Oller, Hunter Parrish, Chandler Riggs, Nick Robinson, Joshua Sasse, Miles Teller, Max Theriot and Ed Westwick.

In fact, sources told the publication that more than 2,5000 actors have either met with casting directors or put themselves on tape. Actor Emory Cohen's name was added to the list Tuesday. Walt Disney Studios, Lucasfilm and directors Phil Lord and Christopher Miller had no comment.

Whoever wins the role will be playing the a younger version of the character made famous by Harrison Ford in 1977's Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope, 1980's Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back, 1983's Star Wars: Return of the Jedi and 2015's Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens.

Lawrence Kasdan and Jon Kasdan are writing the script for the Han Solo movie, scheduled for release on May 25, 2018. Before then, Walt Disney Studios and Lucasfilm will release Rogue One: A Star Wars Story on Dec. 16, 2016, followed by Star Wars: Episode VIII on Dec. 15, 2017.
