We will never compare anything to Hogwarts, but Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children does look like a pretty cool place to grow up.
The film, based on Ransom Riggs' young adult novel of the same name, is directed by Tim Burton. The poster and first full-length trailer for Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children debuted Tuesday, and they're both as fascinatingly haunting as you'd expect!
Miss Peregrine, played by Eva Green, runs an orphanage for odd children. These children have varying quirks that aren't necessarily accepted in the normal world—one boy is invisible, another girl eats through a mouth on the back of her head, etc.
Jacob Portman, played by Asa Butterfield, accidentally finds himself at Miss Peregrine's mysterious reprieve following a family tragedy. In the trailer, Jake insists he is "normal" and not in possession of any otherworldly abilities like the other kids, but Miss Peregrine sees otherwise.
When evil threatens to wreck the safe haven Miss Peregrine has worked so hard to create, she asks Jacob to protect the children. In order to do this, though, he has to discern what is real and what is a hidden enemy.
Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children also stars Samuel L. Jackson, Chris O'Dowd, Allison Janney, Judi Dench, Kim Dickens and Rupert Everett. It hits theaters Sept. 30.
