We know something that won't be on Ellie Goulding's mind for a while—music.

Unfortunately for fans, the singer revealed on Twitter yesterday that she's decided to step away from the spotlight for a bit and take a break from creating those super catchy tunes that we find ourselves humming in the middle of the day. But don't take that as the beauty indirectly quitting music, because that's definitely not the case.

Goulding told fans on Thursday, "I am not quitting music, I've come too far for that! Just having a break. It's been seven years since I had time off.... Love you all."

And although this busy bee is certainly deserving of some time off, it seems like there may be another reason behind her seemingly sudden decision to take a step back.

During an interview with The Sun earlier this week backstage at her concert, Goulding allegedly attributed her plans for a break to her recent split from boyfriend, McFly member Dougie Poynter.

"People think I'm invincible but these past few weeks have been tough," Goulding is quoted as saying. "When you're in the public eye, it seems like you're able to deal with stuff better than anyone else, which is not remotely true. I'm not in a relationship any more and that's been hard. Having a break will be a good thing for me and my head."

She added, "I'm not writing new stuff. I'm not sure when I'll release a new album. It might not even be next year. I need time off for my own head. My plan is to have a month off in August and do more of my charity stuff and then next year I need to live a bit. Who knows? My situation has changed."

The 29-year-old opened up about her on-again, off-again relationship with the British musician in the March issue of Red Magazine. Although she said she vowed to be single after going through some things over the last few years, he somehow slipped into her life, and it just worked.

"When I met Dougie, he had no game. He was just like, 'You're really cool, let's go out,'" she revealed. "It was me that pursued him, a bit, very unexpectedly. Before him, I was having a single period and hating all men, saying never again, after a series of things that happened to me. I really, really thought I was going to be single for a long while."

However, she explained, "But then I met him and was like, uh-oh, game over. He was just so nice. So, you know, you don't throw something like that away so easily."
