Donald Trump has recently been compared to Adolf Hitler, and on Thursday, Sarah Silverman appeared on Conan in character as the Nazi leader. Before she was introduced, host Conan O'Brien said, "I think most people would agree Donald Trump might be the most divisive candidate ever, even as he continues to beat primaries, many are openly comparing Donald Trump to Adolf Hitler. It's pretty common. In fact, New York's Daily News ran this front page earlier this week: 'Trump Is Hitler.' It doesn't get much worse than 'Trump Is Hitler,' so I asked if he would come out tonight to address these comparisons. Shockingly, he's in town. He agreed."
Silverman's appearance came after fellow comedian Louis C.K. also compared Trump to Hitler. She arrived on set wearing a Nazi uniform, complete with a fake Hitler mustache, to make light of the links between the two. The audience cheered loudly as she took her seat. "I have to say, that's more applause than I expected," she admitted. After they settled down, O'Brien told his guest, "Hitler, thank you so much for stopping by tonight—and might I add, you're the worst."
"I know," Silverman (as Hitler) said. "I know."
"So, my understanding is you want to clear the air, because you think you're being unfavorably compared to Donald Trump," O'Brien said. Silverman (as Hitler) nodded, telling the TBS host, "Don't get me wrong, Conan: I agree with a lot he says. A lot! Like, 90 percent of what he says, I'm like, 'This guy gets it.' But it's just, ugh...I don't like the way he says it. It's just...it's crass."
"Yeah," O'Brien said. "Trump is very, very crass."
In reference to a recent GOP debate when Trump alluded to the size of his penis, Silverman (as Hitler) asked, "What kind of person talks about his penis size on national television? Oh, yeah! I'm so sure Donald Trump has a big penis. I famously have a micropenis—that's what makes a tyrant." O'Brien smiled and responded, "Hitler, I am very sorry to hear about your micropenis."
"If I had a gold filling for every time I heard that..." Silverman (as Hitler) told him. "Oh, I can't believe Hitler went there!" On a more serious note, she said that the comparisons to Trump are bumming her out. "Sometimes I watch him and I'm like, 'Is that how people see me?'" she said. "I have to be honest: Trump, he's starting to make me rethink some of the things I've done."
"Ah, who am I kidding?" she said with a grin. "I gotta be me, right?"
