Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. is finally back!

Tonight's midseason premiere wasted no time giving us exactly what we wanted: A swoon-worthy FitzSimmons scene. (Well, it made us wait until the end of the episode, but you know what we mean.) After spending the entire episode being a bit awkward around one another, Jemma (Elizabeth Henstridge) finally approached Leo (Iain De Caestecker) and put it all out there: "I miss you. There it is. I miss you." It turned out that killing Will (Dillon Casey)—or the husk of Will who'd been inhabited by that pesky Inhuman—left Leo with more than a little guilt.

It was time for Jemma to remind him of exactly what he killed on the planet: A monster, not Will. "You've been nothing less than extraordinary this whole time," she told him. Then she told him she wanted to start over with him, from the beginning. And the sound you heard during that scene was us squealing from all the swooning as they re-introduced themselves to one another and did their adorable little handshake. Now, let's not send one to an alien planet again, writers.

ABC

The FitzSimmons reboot was hardly the only major development in tonight's big episode. Let's break it all down.

Ward 2.0

If you thought Grant Ward (Brett Dalton) got scary towards the end, that was nothing compared to whatever the heck he is now. He's regaining his strength, finally speaking, and sending shivers down our spine with his demands for raw meat. (We've got a feeling he's eating Inhumans, but we're really hoping we're wrong on that one.) And whatever he did with his hand at the end, all to make Malick (Powers Boothe) "believe" can't be good.

The New Head of the ATCU

Coulson (Clark Gregg) and the President had a clandestine meeting tonight, wherein S.H.I.E.L.D. was given the go-ahead to continue to operate in the dark, with the promise that the new head of the ATCU will report to Coulson himself. The only flaw in the plan? As we learned at the end of the episode, the new head is none other than Talbot (Adrian Pasdar). Something tells us he won't take too easily to answering to Coulson.

Coulson's Major Upgrade

No more black hand for Coulson! By the end of the episode, he'd gotten a realistic-looking prosthetic hand. Only, he didn't seem too excited about the update. "It feels real," May (Ming-Na Wen) told him. "It feels like the others," he replied.

Laisy Is Officially On

Yes, that's our ship name for Daisy (Chloe Bennet) and Lincoln (Luke Mitchell), who got their make-out on tonight after Linc decided to stick around S.H.I.E.L.D. This show loves to torture its characters when they find love, though, so we're just going to enjoy this while we can, OK? And if that means letting us use the silly Laisy as their couple name, so be it.

Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. airs Tuesdays at 9 p.m. on ABC.
