There may be a reason your foundation is caking, or your pores look bigger, or your makeup isn't lasting through the night.

Sorry, friend, but your beauty primer may not be cutting it.

Luckily, you can turn to your friend, the Internet—which holds a number of solutions to your primer problems. In the latest of viral trends, beauty bloggers are touting Nivea Men Sensitive Post Shave Balm as the perfect face primer. But is this another crazy claim (remember clown contouring?)—or can this drugstore aftershave work wonders for both him and her.

Celeb makeup artist and beauty Instagram star Karen Gonzalez shares her verdict.

Trending: "The buzz is all about Nivea Men's Post Shave Balm as an all-over skin beauty primer," said the makeup maven. "It's been seen all over Instagram and YouTube."

How it Works: "You can apply it many ways, but I recommend starting with a small amount and blending it directly onto the skin," advised the pro. "Since it has a lot of glycerin, it acts as a glue for the foundation so the key is to rub it in until it becomes tacky."

Final Verdict: "My makeup lasted all day and applied on evenly, and [the balm] leaves my skin extremely soft throughout the day, even after I wash my face," noted Karen.
