She's only in her first season of The Real Housewives of Atlanta, but Kim Fields is already following in the footsteps of former RHOA stars Kim Zolciak-Biermann and NeNe Leakes by joining season 22 of Dancing With the Stars.
Following the big cast announcement, Kim and her partner Sasha Farber spoke with E! News' Erin Lim about whether she'd gotten any advice from the ladies who've competed for the mirrorball trophy before her. While she admitted she's never even met Kim, she did share the back-and-forth she had with NeNe once news over her casting broke.
"Nene sent a text and said congratulations and have a lot of fun," she said. "We did a selfie for her that she really loved. She just told me to have fun."
So, why was season 22 the right time for the former Facts of Life star to join Dancing With the Stars? "They invited me to the party and my dance card wasn't quite full just yet, pardon the pun," Kim revealed. "It was just the right time, you know? The right time in my career. I'm doing new things, spreading my wings in a lot of different waters. This is another wonderful step in that direction."
When asked what she's most looking forward to in her DWTS journey, Kim admits it's working with her new BFF, her partner. "Working with Sasha, quite honestly," she said. "Every day, it's one of the highlights of my day. To know that I'm going to rehearse, to learn something new. The way that he teaches it, it's great working with him."
As for what has Sasha excited about dancing with Kim? "I'm just excited for her journey," he admitted. "I feel like America hasn't seen the real Kim and in a couple weeks, when we go live, I feel like America's going to fall in love with her. She's just such an amazing person and the energy that she brings out is brilliant. I'm just happy I get to be a part of it with Kim."
