Watch: Queen Latifah Opens Up on Wanting to Become a Mother

Queen Latifah's maternal side is kicking in.

The SAG Award winner says motherhood is in her future.

"I'm little bit of a procrastinator," Latifah, 45, told me while promoting her new film Miracles From Heaven. "I had some things to deal with. I had to get a lot of partying out of my system early in life for about 40 years. You know what I'm saying. I'm good now. I think I'm ready."

She's not sure who many kids she wants. "I can't say what God has for me, but you will see," Latifah said. "You'll see when I'm lugging the baby on the hip that there is actually a youngin around here."

Or, she added, "maybe I'll adopt a child that's not necessarily a baby. There are a lot of kids that need love out there. I want to be there for somebody. I got to get all this stuff and give it somebody."

In Miracles From Heaven, Latifah plays a waitress who befriends a mother (Jennifer Garner) whose young daughter (Kylie Rogers) is battling a deadly incurable digestive disease. Based on a true story, the girl was cured after she said she had a visit from God during a freak accident in which she fell three stories inside a hollow tree.

"I've definitely been through things in life that have tested my faith and had me asking a lot of questions and really having some serious conversations with God, like 'Why?' and 'What is this?' Latifah said.

However, she said, "I've never lost faith…I have a tattoo on my back that says 'faith.'"

Miracles From Heaven is in theaters on March 16.
