Thanks to FX's popular series American Crime Story: The People v. O. J. Simpson, the Internet practically broke on Friday when the news hit that a knife (which could possibly be new evidence) was found on O.J. Simpson's old property...yes, 21 years after the former football star was acquitted of murder.

In case you missed it, Los Angeles police say a knife was recovered on a property once owned by O.J. It is currently in the process of being tested to see if it has a connection to the murders of Nicole Brown Simpson and Ron Goldman.

Of course, due to their father Robert Kardashian's involvement as one of his lawyers and their close ties to the Simpson family, we couldn't help but find out how the Kardashian clan reacted to the discovery.

"They are just as shocked as everyone else about this possible new development," a insider close to the family tells E! News.

The FX series has definitely caused quite a bit of commotion surrounding the Keeping Up With the Kardashians family and their involvement throughout the trial. In fact, Khloe Kardashian sat down with James Corden last week and dished her family's feelings about the show.

While Kim Kardashian apparently loves the series and absolutely "raves about it," Khloe said, "not all the facts are accurate. Like when O.J. was contemplating suicide, it was in my room and not Kim's room."

She continued, "They're kind of sensationalizing the Kardashian name in it, but I think to bring the younger audience in. I'm not upset about it, but there was some scene of the kids chanting 'Kardashian' when my dad was reading the potential suicide note. I even called Kim, because I was 10. I'm like, 'Did that happen? I don't remember any of this happening? She goes, 'Absolutely not did that happen!'"

As for O.J., whether or not his fingerprints are found on the knife, he cannot be tried again for murder as he is protected by double-jeopardy.

An attorney told E! News on Friday, "The U.S. constitution prohibits the government from trying somebody twice for the same crime. So even if we find new, incontrovertible evidence that proves [O.J.'s] guilt, 100 percent, he cannot be tried again, and the federal government cannot try him either."

Meanwhile, Ron Goldman's family released the following statement about the discovery, per Garson & Wright Public Relations, Inc.: "Until the LAPD completes its investigation of the recovered knife, the validity of the knife as it relates to Ron and Nicole's murder is purely speculative.  It is not a shock to our family that stories like this are making headlines again.  Being a victim/survivor is an ongoing process for all those impacted. We cannot validate every claim with a discussion, as it only creates more unnecessary hype and encourages the media circus. "
