Susan Sarandon's daughter, Eva Amurri Martino, took to her blog Happily Eva After to candidly tell her own nanny nightmare. She appropriately titled the post "Nannygate 2.0" (referencing the tabloid stories surrounding both Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner as well as Gwen Stefani and Gavin Rossdale's nannies) and didn't hold back when it came to her emotions over the whole experience.
"I'm telling this story because it's in my nature to be brutally honest about my life," she wrote. "Grab some popcorn and a cocktail because this story is trashy– really trashy."
Eva explained that she had been gone on a business trip for a few days when her husband, Kyle Martino, received a raunchy text message from their nanny that read: "OMG. Girl, did I mention to you how hot and sex my Boss is. I would love to f–k his brains out ha haah. Too bad he seems not to like thick Latin women with lots to hold on to LOL."
Kyle thought the text message must have been an accident and meant for one of her friends, but when he arrived home later that morning, the nanny was spying on him through the couple's bedroom window. Though he brushed it off and decided to go to work, leaving their daughter Marlowe with her at first, he soon realized something was definitely off.
"While he was at the meeting, however, he just didn't feel right," Eva wrote. "He had a pit in his stomach, and he told me he just knew he had to leave the meeting early and rush home to Marlowe and to deal with the situation head on."
She continued, "AND THIS IS WHY MY HUSBAND IS A LEGEND: He also realized in that moment that he was going to record his entire confrontation with her. Because he knew that clearly this chick was crazy– and who knows what she would try to make up or twist after the fact."
Eva decided to share the entire transcription of the conversation because, as she bluntly put it: "I would feel badly for this chick…except that, well, I REALLY don't."
Per the transcription, Kyle confronted the nanny about the text message and politely asked her to leave, saying, "It's not the type of environment I want in the house with you taking care of our daughter."
All in all, Eva says the whole thing gave her a new sense of appreciation for her husband and took their relationship to a new level. They decided not to hire any new help and are now traveling together with Marlowe so they can both continue to work.
"Strangely, this bizarre Nanny experience brought us even closer (emotionally and geographically) than we would have been otherwise," she added. "It's had its (extremely) stressful moments, but it's an adventure."
