As for her short 'do in her Max Max role as Furiosa, which she has since grown out? The idea for the buzzed look was all Theron's.

"I didn't know what to do with hair in that role and that desert. What do you do? It's like a ponytail or you're just going to look like Barbarella," Theron told E!'s Ryan Seacrest on the red carpet.

"Those were the two worlds I was struggling with. I just thought it would be easier."

Theron went on to praise George Miller, who is up for a directing award tonight for his work on Mad Max: Fury Road.

"He dedicated himself to this for so long," said Theron.

Mad Max: Fury Road is the fourth installment in the Mad Max franchise. It was directed and produced by George Miller, and written by Miller, Brendan McCarthy, and Nico Lathouris.
