There's no question about it—Kate Hudson is very comfortable in her skin.

Whether she's donning a crop top on the red carpet or revealing her bare bum on Instagram, the Golden Globe-nominated actress is clearly proud of every inch of her body. According to the 36-year-old mom of two, it's a quality that runs in her famous family.

"My family's always been a [very] comfortably naked family," she told Conan O'Brien while appearing on his late night show Thursday.

For the Fabletics designer, nudity is the preference now.

"I'd much prefer being naked than clothed," she told the host. "I just find clothes restricting. When I get home I just want to be naked."

While it can be a jarring concept for more conservative families, Hudson explained the trait stemmed from having a physically free mother.

"When you're a dancer, you're very comfortable with your body…and my mom was a dancer," she said of Oscar winner Goldie Hawn, who began training in ballet as a toddler. "Mom would come flying down the stairs. We'd have all of our friends there and she'd be in like little tiny numbers."

As a proponent of self-acceptance, the author turned her eccentric upbringing into an uplifting life lesson for anyone listening.

"I'm gonna actually just take a good look at what's in front of me in the mirror and get comfortable with it because it's mine and accept it," she declared. "That's the family that I come from."
