Tom Hardy is heading to FX to heat up your TVs, but Taboo may not feature the type of Tom Hardy you're used to lusting after. The new eight-part drama from FX and BBC One set in 1814 stars the Oscar nominee as James Keziah Delaney, a man who has been to the ends of the earth and returns forever changed. Oh yeah, everybody thought he was dead.

The drama is executive produced by Hardy and Ridley Scott and created by Steven Knight. Pedigree alert! Hardy and his father, Chips, developed the original story. Chips is a consulting producer on it.

When James returns home from Africa to inherit his father's shipping empire and rebuild his life, he finds his dad's legacy comes with quite a few enemies lurking about. There's conspiracy, murder and betrayal—along with a dark family mystery—in this "combustible tale of love and treachery."

Take a look at the new trailer above and don't forget to pause at Hardy in the loin cloth scene. And hey, it's Doug Stamper (Michael Kelly) from House of Cards! Leo Bill, Oona Chaplin, Richard Dixon, David Hayman, Danny Ligairi and Jonathan Pryce also star.
