Employees at Kensington Palace, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge's residence, are threatening to strike because of a proposed pay cut for some staff. Staff fear that they'll lose up to $5,000 per year after the charity that manages the salaries decided they might have to tighten up the spending reigns. But some former staff members say when you work for the royals you don't do it for the money.
The Today show reported that those very "close" to the royal family are not among those debating walking out on them. Those involved are reportedly those who look after exhibits, work in ticket officers or show visitors around the grounds. A spokeswoman for Historic Royal Palaces told British publication Metro U.K. in a statement, "We have given a year's notice of the planned changes and are currently in discussions with the Public and Commercial Services Union."
